Habit/Neurosis: Vegrandis loves the sensations of being held by soft things and of holding soft things, especially people. He needs to have at least one thing to cuddle with him, or he gets upset and throws a terrible tantrum that involves biting and screaming. He carries a small pillow with him almost all the time. He also has autism, although he's mostly high-functioning.

Personality: Vegrandis is a very timid, very quiet boy. He spends most of his time hiding behind things, rocking back and forth with his pillow tightly clutched to his chest, or locked in his room building intricate blanket forts to hide in. In addition, he rarely if ever speaks, and there's speculation that he might not have full linguistic ability, although he does sometimes say a few words. He doesn't like being startled, and can cry or run away if someone disturbs a peaceful moment. Most of the time, he seems to be out of step with the world, just focused on himself with no room for anything outside.

However, he's also somewhat needy, given the recent death of his parents and his love for physical contact, and if he comes to trust someone he will follow them everywhere and frequently cling to their legs. He won't speak any more than usual, but it's easy to tell if Vegrandis has become attached, since attachment is accompanied by clinginess.

His favorite thing beside his pillow is formal logic, and he's taught himself almost all of the rules and inferences involved in the system. He can spend hours working on a formal proof of something that is deceptively simple-seeming. He relaxes and opens up slightly more when working on something along those lines.
Appearance: Vegrandis is short, coming to about 4'3", with a fairly normal build for a child his age. His hair is short and blonde, sweeping across his face in a messy way. His eyes are rather wide and a clear, piercing blue, and he has a tendency to stare at people. He wears whatever is handy, with no particular regard for looking nice, although he favors comfortable fabrics.

History: Vincent Reed was never normal, even as a baby. He was born in America as the fifth child of an already overworked family, and quickly proved to have problems - he cried when he was held, was incredibly fussy, and could spend hours just staring at one thing in between crying jags. It was too much for the family, and after doing some research and asking around, they discovered what the disorder was likely to be - Autism - and that it was incurable. After a great deal of thought, they decided that they just weren't prepared to raise a child that demanded so much attention, and they regretfully put him up for adoption when he was almost 2.

But the child went unadopted, and he began to be shifted into different orphanages and a few short-lived foster homes. Nothing ever quite worked out, and the instability of his environment only made Vincent's situation harder for him - the constant changes were terrible, given his love of peace and stability. He withdrew further and further, spending most of his time curled up with a pillow and ignoring the world.

Then, soon after Vincent turned 9, a man came through the orphanage and began to give the students complex tests. On most of them, the silent, uncommunicative Vincent failed miserably - he didn't respond to the interview questions and filled out nothing on the written quizzes. But then there was a section for math and symbolic logic, and Vincent's wide eyes lit up as he began to solve the problems with glee. As soon as language was removed from the situation, it became evident that Vincent was incredibly intelligent for his age - and there was hope that, given this intelligence, he might be taught to speak more.

He has just been transferred to Wammy's House.
